Gōng xǐ fā cái (happiness and prosperity)!
This year we start celebrating on January 29th, and in many cultures this is a week long celebration. If you follow the Chinese zodiac, this year is the year of the snake. For those of you born in 2013, 2001, 1989, 1977, 1965, and 1953 this is your year! These individuals are known as being deep thinkers, resourceful, and determined. Unfortunately in Kelowna there aren’t many public events but, I’ve put all the things going on in our community over the next few weeks into one post so you can celebrate the Lunar New Year in Kelowna 🧧

Final Thoughts
If you needed a second chance to start fresh here it is! I hope one day there will be a larger Lunar New Year in Kelowna, like the ones in bigger cities. Having only 3 events is so sad! I’ll be making dumplings with family and ringing in the new year on the 29th. Then, I’ll be checking out the big event at the college on the 9th to watch the dragon dance. The college one is by far the biggest and has been around for the longest. It’s definitely a must see! Wishing everyone a prosperous new year, and I hope you have the best time Discovering Kelowna.
